Honolulu Hawaii

When asked what the top destinations on their “must see” list,  almost everyone has Hawaii in their top ten  places. I’m sure it has a lot to do with the many sandy beaches, tropical weather and unique culture – among many other things! Hawaii is a cluster of islands in the pacific and these islands are a part of the United States. Honolulu is the capital of the state and, for most visitors to Hawaii, is also home-base. Most tourists arrive in Honolulu and make their way around the islands from there or just stay on this one island for the duration of their trip.

Most people think it is expensive to travel to Honolulu and that is true if you do not take the time and effort to plan ahead! Here are some tips for keeping your vacation as affordable as possible:

1)    Start searching for your flights in advance in order to get the best deals. Check airline websites frequently and sign up for travel newsletter that keep travelers in the loop when it comes to deals and sales.

2)    Instead of renting a car, become familiar with public transit and use it to get around the city.

3)    Consider camping instead of staying in a hotel. The weather is almost always nice year round in Hawaii and if you are traveling with children, they would probably prefer to camp anyway!

4)    Do a lot of research before you depart so you know where the cheapest restaurants and shops are.

A family vacation to Honolulu Hawaii need not break the bank. You will have some things in mind that you must do while you are there but there are plenty of free things to do there as well. Here are some of those activities that won’t cost you a cent:

1) Take a hike on the many walking trails including one which is on one of the world’s most famous volcanoes!

2) Take a hula lesson.

3) Spend the day and evening at the beach. Swim, build sand castles, play volleyball, play Frisbee and run in the sand!

4) Walk around the city and admire the architecture, learn more about the culture and meet some of the locals.

There is no shortage of things to do in Honolulu so get planning for that dream vacation you have always wanted to take!
