San Diego

When it comes to planning a family vacation, San Diego may not be the first place that pops into your mind. That is not surprising, considering places like Florida and California have Walt Disney World and Six Flags Magic Mountain. However, it can make the perfect place to take your family to when you next have time to travel and spend time together.

Sea World is obviously one of the main attractions in the area. Kids love sea life and here they get the chance to see dolphins, whales and other sea creatures up close and in person. It is the home of Shamu, the famous whale that kids are used to seeing on television in the ads for Sea World.

Or you can take a trip to the zoo. The San Diego Zoo is world famous and for good reason.  The 1800 acre space features more than 3,500 animals for kids to meet and enjoy. During the summer there is even a summer camp program the kids can sign up for and actually stay overnight at the zoo.

You could go camp over sleeping and enjoy your time that way. There are lots of different camping grounds and campsites to check out, or you can go more out in the wilderness if you like. This is probably not the best idea for too young of children but for kids aged 7 and up it can be a real treat.

Older children may be interested in something more mature such as the San Diego Museum of ArtChildren’s Museum, Cabrillo national monument, Old Town, and Balboa Park. This is a wonderful way to get your children more involved in the arts and help them understand culture and design.

It really all depends on the ages of your children and what you guys enjoy doing together as a family. Now you have another destination where you know you will have a great time.

There are also numerous other attractions in the area that can be fun for everyone including Petco Park, Mt. Soledad, Mission Beach, Belmont Park, Dog Beach, Seaport Village and Knott’s Berry Farm Soak City ,San Diego Wave House Harbor Excursions, Aircraft Carrier Museum. There are also numerous attractions a short distance from San Diego including Temecula Wine Tours, Palm Springs Aerial Tramway,  Big Bear Mountain Resort, Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada Mexico.
